The question then became whether to replace or repair the valve,” says Gary. “My son has a friend who is an intensive care nurse and he recommended Dr. Geiss. We also have many friends who work in hospitals or doctors offices and Dr. Geiss’ name was at the top of the list every time.”

A father of two and grandfather of two, Gary had robotic heart surgery on Monday and came home on Thursday.

“Obviously, I would have preferred not to have needed surgery…but since I did, it was good to know we have surgeons here with these skills. Dr. Geiss and Dr. Fortuna are the only two in central Illinois using the robot for heart surgery.

“All my care was outstanding. The nurses, Sherri and Becky, were always friendly and informative.

“I feel good. And I’m back to doing everything: working, golfing, walking, taking care of the yard. When I went back to my family doctor and he listened to my heart, he was amazed.”

“That Geiss,” he said. “The guy is a miracle worker!”
