Born in Athens, Greece, Dr. Koullias earned his Medical Degree from the Aristotle University Medical School in 1991. He served at the Greek Air Force Medical Corps for 2 years.
He has received advanced training in Cardiothoracic Surgery during a 2 year Cardiothoracic Fellowship at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven Connecticut. He is Board Certified in General as well as in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
He completed a 5 month advanced Thoracic Aortic Endovascular Fellowship at the German Heart Center in Berlin-Germany with Dr. Zipfel and Professor Roland Hetzer, and also a 6-month fellowship in General Vascular and Endovascular Techniques at the Arizona Heart Hospital in Phoenix, with Dr. Edward Diethrich, a world renowned pioneer in the field of Cardiovascular and Endovascular Medicine.
Dr. Koullias’s main scientific interest is the open and endovascular treatment of cardiac, aortic and vascular disease. He has attended multiple symposia and he is the author of numerous scientific papers in the above subjects and also serves as a paper reviewer in several cardiovascular and endovascular journals.
In his spare time, Dr Koullias spends time with his family, enjoys the outdoors and works on his favorite hobby: the study of classical ancient coinage.
